I feel sad to hear that the attempted fix didn't work. The change did sound like a promising hypothesis.
Thanks for sharing the log files. The good news is we can exclude several causes now. The bad news is that we'll have to dig deeper and probably will come with another firmware with new logging messages to discover where it goes wrong.
It seems to go wrong at system startup where the WiFi hardware does not make itself known on the USB bus.
Fixing this WiFi connection problem has our priority and we are working hard on it.
I sent you log files by mail ... waiting for a new firmware ...

@cabriobob and @WesleySAV17 see your private inbox for a new firmware to test.
Other people who are willing to help us fix this problem can send me a private message and I will mail a link to a new firmware version that possibly fixes the problem and also logs more information so we are better able to find the culprit if this latest change didn't fix the problem.
No it still does not work, I reset the CURA Connect settings as well as the printer.
Still no WIFI. I sent you the LOG file. Hoping for a solution ... -
I look forward to your return .... thank you

Can you outline the exact steps that you took? For most users, doing the factory reset enables them to do the Wi-Fi setup again and have a connection setup. You need to perform this setup before the toggle becomes available. Can you verify that you did the Wi-Fi setup before you toggled between Wi-Fi and ethernet?
I reset the wear settings again, restart the configuration of the tray, coils ... then WIFI, at this time the button is grayed out ...

I had to send my s5 to the reseller to fix this issue. New WiFi board fixed the problem
If I understand correctly, you sent your printer service to replace the WIFI card ???

In 5.2.11 we fixed a WiFi problem where two modules could be loaded in the wrong sequence and hence failing, a software problem called a 'race condition'. Those problems are difficult to tackle since a lot of external factors make the code fail or pass.
So, when you people report the WiFi still fails I'd like to get more details since all our internal tests succeeded and 'it fails' isn't enough info to get us searching in the right direction.
Could you please send me your log files to: https://community.ultimaker.com/messenger/compose/?to=347407
I email you the log file, updated to 5.2.11 and WIFI always grayed out.
I renialize cura connect and as well as the printer ....
Thank you for your help -
the 5.2.11 update does not correct the WIFI .... a shame

This problem exists since the update 5.2.8 ...
It's been over a month since we are waiting for a fix .... -
Still no WIFI despite the update 5.2.11 ..... disappointing ....
-
Unfortunately we are many to be disappointed by Ultimaker .... no sorry 0,1%
Still no roadmap for possible fixes ...
Really disappointed...

Yes. they told me they are waiting on solutions from ultimaker themselves
Unfortunately I have the same feeling, I buy an Ultimaker S5 instead of a Raise3D, everyone praise the seriousness of Ultimaker, still waiting for bug fixes ... more Ultimaker communication on the S5 is a disaster .... (disappearance of the aluminum tray) and today the firmware bugs ... really bad ...

Still no solution for the Wifi HS since the update in 5.2.8? A new version is it planned? because having a cable that crosses the workshop is not practical ...
-
Unfortunately there is no new firmware or solution to our problem ...
We are good to wait for a fix from Ultimaker ...

For those with serious problems (like not working WiFi) after the update to 5.2.8 I would suggest a factory reset. There has been an UM3 firmware upgrade in the past (I think it was the one which introduced Cura Connect) which also required a factory reset on some machines.
For my part I have already tried to reset my S5, but this has not worked anything ... the Wifi still does not work ...
-
I already have to reset Cura connect from the menu of my S5, however the WIFI still does not work, the bonton is grayed out ... I also tried to fully reinstall the printer, it has rioen changed ... Yes I am in 5.2.8 20190320 ...
-
Nobody knows where the loss of WIFI (gray button) since the update of my UM5? does an update correct the problem? I am very disappointed ?
-
My WiFi isn't working... I can not activate the wifi on my S5 anymore ...
-
Since the update of my S5 I no longer activates the connesion WIFI, the bonton remains grayed ???
5.2.11 Broke my WiFi on S5
