    It seems to me that you could interrupt the power line to the screen with a SPST switch. Flip it on, the screen gets power. Flip it off, screen is unpowered. I'd have to research and track down which line is power (which shouldn't be too hard), but it would involve cutting traces, so definitely not for the faint of heart.
