solved the issue I believe. When I reinstalled the motor for the feeder I caught one of the wires of the axis motor and compressed them together. Found an article on a different sight which said that may cause conductors touching essentially adding to a bit of magnetism. Either way seemed to good to be true but i got the wires free and now it was able to home the head back. Hopefully this may help anyone in the future.
update, pulled off the stepper motor and even with no belt attach it still makes a grinding clicking sort of feel when you twist it. No other steppers that i have do this. Not sure if maybe it went bad or something?
Attempting to get my Ultimaker 2 go up and running. I had to change the filament since it was getting old and brittle. I removed the feeder to clean it out. Everything was working fine yesterday. I went to home the head today and received the x and y switch error code ER07. Pushing from side to side seems to have a bind somewhere that the stepper motor cannot overcome. Not sure if I bumped something in pulling apart the feeder and its motor. I removed the corner cover to realign the stepper motor could have bumped something then. All of the rubber belts on top seem to have equal tension applied. the one going from the motor to the initial pulley does seem tighter.
