I followed your wizened instructions. 4.4.1 took around 7 seconds. I'm still waiting for 4.5 to finish and I've been out shopping. I think I'll uninstall it and start over. Many thanks.

The new version of Cura seems to take forever to slice larger models now. The older version would take no time at all.
