  1. Less filament Yes! I think so! Decrease in printing time, sorry NO! Actually on my test part (attached) I think the traditionally supports are faster but harder to remove, probably just a setting. Printed with 0,4m nozzle 0,2mm layers, material ABS, printer Flashforge Guider 2S ... The best thing with Cura is "invisible" Z seam compared to easier to use Flashprint. Makes Cura my choice for ducting and fans (RC plane parts). HMAL_3S.stl

Simple work around (I assume that You got all the required settings for Your printer in Cura) In Cura: Save sliced part to a file e.g. mytest.g In Flashprint (assumed connected to the printer): Open the mytest.g and then send it to the printer. I find Cura much better than Flashprint for precision rotating parts. Flashprint does not handle the Z seam properly. But then Flashprint has other qualities like being able to cut/split .STL files into separate parts better visualisation and so on. Nothing is perfect at leatst so fa ;)
  3. Hi, I've made a Cura v5 profile for Flashforge Guider 2s (for PLA) What I did: Used Flashprint made some g-code for PLA and saved it. Opened the file in a text editor examined it and found start and end code sections. Added these into Cura start and stop code for the specific printer. BTW: Selected code flavour "Griffin" (something I picked up during my search for others settups) Be aware: The temperature settings are "hidden"/fixed in this code so if You decide to go for another material do the same again. Flashforge printer dose not read decimal temperatur settings. Examine each step in the start/end G-code be sure You understand/each step! Any peculiarities try to find explanantion (on the net) or ask Flashforge. How it works: Do Your the slicing in Cura, save sliced G-code fliename.g. Open it in Flashprint and send to printer. Flashprint has it's good sides and bad like Cura, no slicer are perfect.
  4. Sorry but I'm unhappy with the direction idea of 4.13! With 4.12.1 I got perfect print with 0.1 mm layers (0.4 nozzle). With 4.13 Beta I'm getting junk printing Fan impellers! So optimizing for productivity? ... sorry don't think so! Instead I got a sleepless night, frustrated over wasted time! What is wrong? Interface between fan blade and support. Got to have support/raft because I print in ABS who refuse to stick properly to glass surface (with glue). In my mind this is logic: If the user choose 0.1 layers with a 0.4 nozzle the focus is NOT on "productivity", most likely this user is looking for QUALITY and PRECISION, if more productivity then this user would buy more printers. (You sell printers too don't You) In my opinion the user should be able to choose if quality should be neglected and "productivity" should be in focus! Please stay on the 4.12.1 track and junk 4.13 it's a dead end (IMO) I can go back to sleep now ... Edit: Sorry bad day/night it wasn't Cura that failed it was my printer! My Dremel probably overheated somehow. Sent it back to seller for repairs but Dremel had given up 3D printers! No parts! Dremel tried to send me a new printer but this was damaged too (mechanically). In the end I got my money back! Went for a Flashforge Guider 2s, sorry no Ultimaker! I don't fancy the Bowden technology, incompatible as far as I know with expanding low density fillaments.
  5. Downloaded the Cura 4.11 for Linux (appimage). Then I just made the appimage file executable and Cura 4.11 was working flawlessly on my Ubuntu Linux PC :) Installed the Dremel pluging and transfered export/import my settings from Cura 4.9.1 no issues. Slicing worked no problem, saved as Dremel proprietary format on to USB stick. My Dremel 3D45 is currently printing it :) So if You are using Ubuntu Linux Cura 4.11 most likely will work.

  7. Cura 4.9.1 (adapted to Dremel 3D45 unsupported, I know) got/found an annoying bug ... Support blocker can't be trusted in 4.9.1, see attached screen dump. Would be pleased if this would work properly need to be 100% sure no supports inside hub it cause unbalance in fan.
  8. Upgraded to Cura 4.9.1. Found some bugs in 4.9 but did not reach to report them before 4.9.1 came out. Tip to others who might do the same, don't uninstall the original Dremel slicer. Why? Because every time Cura is updated You got to do the same copy of Dremel files to the Ultimaker Cura new version. Beware the support ZigZag pattern may cause nozzle clogging on circular parts with small overhangs. Struggled a lot before I realized this ...   9. The 3d print came out just fine! I will definitely continue using 4.9. Got to transfer all required profiles, hopefully 4.9 will accept those with 0.3, 0.2 and 0.1mm. Maybe the trick would be to increase 0.05 to 0.2 temporary and then import ... stupid me ... it was a bit late ... to my excuse!
  10. I'm pretty new to 3D printing so I bought a Dremel 3D45 (good printer for noobs like me). The supplied slicer (Cura old version) looked a bit limited compared to Cura 4.9 so I took the risk of installing it. First I tried on a Linux (ubuntu) machine but the "AppImage" blocked me from adapting Cura 4.9 to the Dremel 3D45. So I went back to Windows 10 version. Managed to copy the needed .json files to Cura 4.9 and despite the "Config error" messages it seems to work. Had to manually type in all the parameters (sigh). Cura 4.9 refused to accept my modified Ultra Quality 0.05mm profile from the previous software due to "high" quality not available. Should I transfer the "High 0.1mm" profile first and then Ultra may be? Imported a part and Cura 4.9 made the gcode as I wanted. It's printing now 🙂 Hopefully without too many glitches. Looks like the inital error configuration message is a bit exagerated (so far, time will show).
