  1. Hi, Just tried an experiment with different honeycombs and it looks like the walls of the homeycomb are too thin. On my design they are 6mm across the flats with a 1mm thick wall. I tried making a test piece that was 6mm across the flats and 2mm thick walls, and that sliced and show up properly in the preview. Ah well, back to making lots of hexagons. Cheers, Andy
  2. Hi, New to this forum. I am making a small laser engraver using an Arduino + cnc shield. I have been designing and making the parts for it using Ansys Spaceclaim and all has been going well. When I made the box for the Arduino I wanted something different for the lid but allowing maximum airflow, and decided on a honeycomb grille. I slowly went through and placed 6mm hexagons all over the lid surface and then dragged them through leaving hexagonal holes. Looking very good. Saved the model as an STL file and loaded it in to CURA 4.8.0 where all looked fine. Sliced it and checked the preview. All wrong - the honeycomb is greyed out and does not print (yes, I did try printing it just in case !!!). I have the mesh tools plugin installed and ran them - all OK according to them. Also switched "Print Thin Walls" on in case that was the problem. I know my printer (Ender 3) can print honeycomb patterns as I printed a grille for the fan which was like that. Can anyone suggest why this is happening ? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Andy PS I don't use Octiprint, I save the GCODE files on to an SD card and put that in the printer.
