Just found the Github issue for this particular problem and the nightly version (4.12.99) mentioned in this comment seems to fix the issue. 🎉

I'm seeing the same issue after recently upgrading to macOS Monterey (v12.0.1). I've never had an issue using "Multiple selected" but now, after updating, it shows the popup notice that it's "Placing Objects" but doesn't actually do anything and the message never disappears. Using Cura 4.12.0
