  1. I'm having to use various non-Ultimaker matt PLA filaments, and most need higher than standard PLA temperature (as well as a core clean every day!). Almost none of them have downloadable material definitions on market place. Anyway, I've read all the instructions and tried sending my custom materials via cloud and via USB , but they keep failing to appear on U5s - I just get 'no new materials imported' via USB, and no indications at all over sending via cloud. Of course no instructions anywhere on adding materials to pre-'s' U3. I end up just using network connected printers so that from my desk I can actually see the process of prints - not just the cloud print 10 second snapshots! I've really not got time or inclination to start delving into code bodging, and when I send over network to printers the error message does not, of course, let me specify USE WHAT CURA SENT YOU STUPID MACHINE, I CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT THE MATERIAL YOU HAVE LOADED IS, BECAUSE IT'S NOT ON YOUR LIST TO SELECT! It just makes me click on an ambiguous instruction which completely fails to say whether it's defaulting to what the printer thinks its got loaded or to the actual settings coming from Cura,
  2. First fail was open 3 months in dry room. second was brand new, Less than 2 minutes out of sealed pack when print started, same fail, just didn't adhere, roughly 14 hours into print. Can't afford the waste & mess of prints that fail at 3am! Ain't staying up all night watching the feed with my finger on the pause button for each test. Given it was NOT damp filament, I don't know what to try tweaking first; extruder temp ? flow rate ? Fans?
  3. Ultimaker 3, Xmas Cura tree support, Had a couple of models which really needed the tree support to bend in from the plate, both I ended up with having to to use PLA support which was quite hard to remove without leaving surface markings. Both times swapping hot end to BB and re-calibrating before trying print with the support in (brand new reel) PVA, bits of tree just separated, twisted, gathered candy in mid-air, dragged some around with the print head. fortunately can pause from home and clear up next day. PVA just didn't seem to be adhering to previous layer
  4. Brand new Ultimaker 5, updated to latest firmware, XT calibration spot on All Ultimaker PLA. Making a small display model of half a wacky building exterior to display on studio wall shelf, going to be 6 each of 5 different 2-colour prints at least. first tests very wobbly near end of print with standard supports, went back to Xmas special trees Spotted daylight through cracks on 1st attempt to print, aborted, checked model, checked XY calibration, resliced with 'built-in 'vVsual - Extra Fine', crossed my fingers and ran over long weekend (4 1/2 days - keeping an eye in Cura monitor and with a RingCam to check for filament run outs. Still got at least one gap in every print. 2nd run waiting to go for the Yellow/Blue half. STL files merged and scaled to 150% Red.stl YellowR.stl
  5. Cura looses/cannot reconnect to U3 over gigabit LAN, although web browser can still connect to camera feed by machine address ?
