  1. Hi there I recently purchased a used Ultimaker 2 extended with an Olsson block. I have chosen that specific printer in Cura 4.12.1, and I specifically chose the Olsson block add-on. The issue is that I cannot choose between filament types, so Cura cannot calculate the "weight usage" per print. It constantly messes up the support, either by adding too much of it, or not adding it all, although I chose the generate support option. Furthermore I am having trouble with missing retraction I have done 15 retraction calibration tests, and the issue won't go away. I have tried swapping filament, drying it, changing the Bowden tube, install a TFM coupler, cleaning out and servicing the entire machine. I have tried updating the printer's firmware. I have tried downloading a previous version of cura as well, but with no luck. Does anyone know how to fix this, or have you had the same issues at any point? BR Oliver
  2. hi guys, thanks to everyone on this great forum, really helped me with issues over the past few years. Maybe someone can help this time 🙂 I am printing what is effectively a grill, a mesh if you like. It comes out great but i do get tiny gaps where i think the nozzle cant reach. Its not over the entire model, but seemingly at random across the board. Does anyone have any ideas on a setting that might be able to compensate for this? I have tried quite a few but frankly its at random as its a bit out of my understanding, probably too many to list so im after someone more knowledgeable than myself! See attached images where you can see the "gap" when zoomed in. When i used to run this model on my old U2+ i used to dial up the level of the bed to give more 'squish' which gave me the result i wanted, all gaps filled with squish! Ultimaker S5 with material station, air manager. Printing on kapton with ABS, 0.4mm core, temperature 225, bed at 105. Thanks guys.
  3. How can i set a model to only have the bottom half or any part of the model to use the make overhang printable feature? I want only certain portions to have this feature and the other parts to be left alone. In the picture i have circled the part i don't want changed by feature. It would be nice if there was a feature like support blockers for "make overhangs printable" feature.
  4. Hi all, I have an Ultimaker S3 and also i am using Solidworks. The last few weeks sometimes when i am trying to drag and drop a solidworks file in the ultimaker cura or open it thru the "open file" process, i am getting an error that the file is corrupted or there is no model. Then if i try to open it again, it stacks to the "loading" window. I have seen that this happens usually but not always if i have the file open in Solidworks. Then i need to close solidworks, restart Ultimaker cura and then there are more chances to open the same file. This happens in every file so is not that there is a problem with a specific file. Also FYI i have of course the solidworks plug in in ultimaker. This is a problem that occurs the last month. in the past was working flawless. Any ideas how to sort this out? FYI i am using: Ultimaker Cura 4.13.0 Solidworks 2020 Plugin: CuraSolidworksPlugin
  5. Hi everybody, Ultimaker Cura 4.13 is here! Last release, we focused on quality, this release we want to increase your productivity. We optimized our print profiles for Ultimaker printers. We accomplished this by: - New 0.3mm layer height profile - Improved printing methods of solid parts Material synchronization In the Ultimaker Marketplace you can find more than 200 materials, which are compatible with Ultimaker printers. You can now easily synchronize the material profiles to your printers via the Ultimaker Digital Factory. Here’s how it works: - Subscribe to a profile from the Ultimaker Marketplace - Open or restart Ultimaker Cura - Click “Sync”, and there you have it: the profile is on your printer exactly when it’s needed Use any Ultimaker S-line 3D printer (with firmware 7.0.1) and Ultimaker Digital Factory to get started! Add thumbnails to 3mf files: On Windows you can now see a thumbnail of your model from your 3mf file in Windows file explorer thanks fieldOfView for this contribution! Bug fixes: - Fixed an issue that caused the native CAD import plug-in to fail loading, blocking users from opening CAD files in Ultimaker Cura - Fixed an issue that caused the “pause-at-height” script to stop extruding after resuming on large prints - Fixed a bug with surface mode will not print all layers This release of Ultimaker Cura does not contain as many features for the Ultimaker Community as you may be used to. That said, a lot of amazing things are coming very soon! In the meantime, join the Arachne engine second beta – and be part of Ultimaker Cura’s next revolution! Download the 4.13 now!
  6. I am trying to cut a hole in the bottom of my object, however, when I do and go to slice there are no supports in the hole I just made. The hole with just the side supports are the cut holes, the side supports are part of the actual model not the hole. How do I cut a hole in cura and put supports in said cut hole.
  7. I have a question. In Cura 4.12.1 which I am using, the machine settings of my Ultimaker 2+ Connect is automatically set to gcode flavour Griffin. Now, this leads to the generated gcode not creating G140 and G190 commands to heat up and respectively wait for heating up the bed. Though, I see when using Griffin that the comment ';BUILD_PLATE.INITIAL_TEMPERATURE:65' is there and not on the Marlin version. Now does this get interpreted by the Ultimaker and translated into a G140 and G190 command?
  8. Another untested release ... wow
  9. Hi Sometime I print multiple things after each other, same color of PLA and nothing changes. But every single time the printer makes the "line" at the bottom of the bed. The printer head is at 2 mm height and it makes a thick line all across the width of the board. But why? Is it possible to remove this somewhere in the code or in Cura settings? I always have a brim of 4mm that is printed and my bed is autoleveling before each print so it seems a bit waste to print this when printing 10 pieces a day, I do not need these test lines between every single object. How to remove it?
  10. The program clearly has compatibility issues with AMD graphics cards. I myself have an AMD RX580. Cura slicer crashes every time immediately after launching without any error message. All the drivers on my computer are up to date. All possible solutions to fix the problem have been tried.. I have already made several error reports about this. This has been going on for one full year. I haven't got responded to any error reports. Not from ultimaker or AMD. I think it would be great if you could catch your balls and fix the problem. Thank you.
  11. Hi friends. I am wondering where I do change the end position for the bed? It is currently parkng the printer head all the way in the front of the bed lower left side. I want the bed to move forward so that the printer head parks itself at the upper left corner instead. But is there a way to change this? If so, where? Have looked at all settings but cannot find it or i missed it, there are so many settings, but so far start and end position have I not seen anywhere. How to solve this?
  12. Hi everyone, Earlier this year, we released the first beta of Ultimaker Cura Arachne engine. Which received an overwhelmingly positive response, thank you for all your feedback! Since the first beta release we've been working on improving the Arachne engine. What is the Arachne Engine? Our new Ultimaker Cura engine allows you to create parts with ground-breaking quality, strength, and speed. This is made possible by fundamentally redefining how the inside of a model is generated – through adaptive line widths and optimized line positioning. New features in Arachne second beta: Back pressure compensation Print quality is improved through dynamically adjusting print head velocity, which slows down or speeds up depending on the pressure of the material through the Bowden tube. Printing order filling gaps Gaps in models are now filled in after placing the outer wall, resulting in less over-extrusion. Print quality enhancements All print quality improvements from Ultimaker Cura 4.12 have been added. Bug fixes: - Fixed a bug where blobs in g-code were generated - Fixed a bug where the Inner Line Width was wider than the end of the model - Fixed a bug where the Seam placement was not on the correct corner Read the full release notes for all the bug fixes and the known issues or read our full blog post. Download the 2nd beta now! Share your feedback, show your results and/or provide us your input for print profiles for your preferred 3D printer with us here in the comments below or on GitHub

  14. Hi, With Cura, I am trying to use relative extrusion. I have found the setting and it was already ticked. I made sure to slice my model with the setting enabled, yet looking at the GCode, it's using absolute extrusion? (Extruder argument clearly counting up) Does anyone know if this is a bug? Thank you
  15. I have an Anycubic Mega X printer, and it is not listed on the scroll down menu under the Anycubic section. Is there any way to import a profile for it? Thanks!
  16. Hi. How to save per model settings in cura? So that they are always visible and that I do not have to select them manually every time I add a support lock?
  17. I have an Anycubic printer (not hooked up to computer) and have been trying to use Cura for slicing. When I first installed the program it would immediately crash when I tried opening it. I've searched online and nothing I found seemed to work so I uninstalled the application. Then I tried it again thinking I had found something else to try and when I did the reinstall, it seem to start working with out any changes. I thought it was due to me running the install exe as admin on the second install. It worked for about a week and then started doing the same thing of crashing when trying to open. I rebooted my computer and it started working again for a few days. Now it is doing it again and I can not find out why. Reboots don't solve it now. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, as admin. I have tried moving to 4.13 and it still just crashes while opening. An all white window barely gets open for a split second and then closes. I have included my cura.log file from 4.13, I unfortunately don't have a log file from when I had 4.12.1. cura.log
  18. Hi guys, i'm new to the 3d world, i just did my first prints with my ender 3v2 and results are awesome, i did the cat and dog from the card that came with the printer.. now i've download the lastest Cura software, Now here's my problem.. i want to make a temp tower so i load the .stl file in cura, then i slice the tower. i go in preview mode but i only have the xray view, i don't have any layer view and the layer scrollbar on the right doesn't appear. -I tried so far to: uninstall the cura 4.11 version and went with the 4.9 which doesnt help, -I tried to enable force layer view compatibility mode ( my selection won't stay enabled, as soon i close the windows and go back the choice is not enabled.. (still i restarted cura after and didn't change anything) Here's my computer spec: Windows 7 pro 4gb ram Inter pentium dual cpu e2160 @1.80ghz 1.80ghz Geforce GTX 550 Ti
  19. Hi all, Today we have a patch release for Ultimaker Cura 4.12! Ultimaker Cura 4.12 contained two major bugs that needed to be fixed immediately. Many thanks to the community for reporting these issues. Here’s what we’ve fixed: Updated Shapely to version 1.8.0 Which, among other things, fixes multiplying objects on MacOS Montery Lighting infill was printed multiple times We have fixed a bug where lighting infill was printed multiple times under certain circumstances. You can download Ultimaker Cura 4.12.1 now! Let us know your feedback here in the comments or on Github.
  20. Hi, everybody! After quite a lot of struggle, learning, and some very valuable help from this forum, I've written the initial version of a plugin to automate the creation of calibration towers in Cura (temperature towers, retraction towers, and fan towers). This plugin takes 5axes' excellent "calibration shapes" plugin to the next level by automating nearly the entire process of creating a calibration tower, including adding post-processing. Creating a temperature tower for PLA, for instance, is as easy as selecting the "Temp Tower (PLA)" item from the "Auto Towers" menu, slicing, and printing. I've done fairly extensive testing on my Linux machine and some very limited testing on a Windows machine, but I would love some feedback before I introduce it to the marketplace. If anyone would like to try it out and let me know how it works for you, the plugin is hosted on GitHub here: https://github.com/kartchnb/AutoTowersPlugin. Any feedback is welcome - advice for improvements, especially so. I'm still fairly new at GitHub (and Cura plugins), but I believe you should be able to install this by downloading the latest release from here: https://github.com/kartchnb/AutoTowersPlugin/releases and saving it in your Cura plugin directory in an "AutoTowersPlugin' folder. Although it works for me, there is no guarantee it will work for you and not blow up your printer. Sorry if it does, but you've been warned.
  21. Is it possible for a plugin to communicate directly with a connected printer without worrying about the underlying communication method? By this, I mean send gcode directly and read the printer's response whether the printer is connected directly using USB or through something like Octoprint? I'm combing through the source code but am having trouble figuring out how to do this. I've found UM's OutputDevice, for instance, which provides a "requestWrite" function, that looks promising, but doesn't give me much hope to be able to read the printer's response. Is there a plugin that already does this sort of thing I could look at? Cheers and thanks!
  22. I did some testing on creating the third color with dual extruder, inspired by Tim Kuipers’ greyscale printing research and the effect on prime tower https://ultimaker.com/learn/3d-hatching-grayscale-printing-on-the-ultimaker-3 [gr5 fixed link] Interlacing two colors can create third color on vertical surface quite consistantly as long as the two nozzles are properly calibrated. I then tested the idea with an astronaut model by BZH1 meant for 3-4 color (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2609610). I prepared the model with Rhino, manually cut the third color into slices, and imported into Cura together with the other two colors. Surprisingly, Cura was able to hollow out the third color instead of printing it as a solid piece. The print came out has a nice tone thanks to the additional color. It is showing mixing inconsistancy possibly because of heated bed shape change or one of the magnets on my mark2 coming loose during the print. It would be nice if CURA can add a third color choice and slice the part with half tone treatment as an experimental feature.
  23. I am on mac and cura ultimaker does not start! Please, help me.
  24. Does anyone know why my infill so weak? I never used to have problems but the last 2 prints I made have this really weird thin frizzy infill the lines aren't even connected. I'm printing at 15% zig zag in cura like I always do. I don't remember changing any other significant settings. Skin walls brim and supports all print fine it's just the infill that is messed up.
  25. I have set minimum polygon circumference to 100mm (as shown in screenshot). It does indeed remove several layers, but there remain 2 layers for this particular small feature (isolated at each layer when sliced). See the area with some yellow and travel lines going to/from it. Using 4.12.1. Also attached my .3mf CFFFP_v2_n_11_25_30_deg.3mf
