Cura 15.06.02 does not create infill in shaft

Hi,

today I wanted to print a small holder.

I sliced it with new Cura 15.06.02 and watched the layers first.

But new Cura does not create any infill inside the shaft (around layer 44).

In the bottom and top it creates infill again.

Then I sliced it with the old Cura 15.02.01 and this one creates the infill without any problems as you can see here:

Why the new Cura 15.06.02 does not create the infill where the shaft is?

Thanks!

PS:

I wanted to provide the STL-file here but in this forum I cannot see any option to add an STL file.

If someone knows how to do it please tell me ;-)

Hmm... the outer wall of that part also looks a bit thin in Cura 15.06.2. Did you have a 'fix horrible' setting activated in legacy Cura? What does the model look like in the x-ray view of legacy Cura? Any red there?

    Hi dim3nsioneer,

thanks for reply. Here what it looks like in legacy Cura x-ray view:

    qsBoi4h.jpg

'Fix horrible' is set to 'Combine everything (Type A)' but I never set this - I hink this is the default?

But even if I disable it legacy Cura creates infill as expected - new Cura doesn't :-(

What's your infill percentage in the new Cura? It looks like you have it set to 0 or something less than 3%.

very strange. I guess you may have found another Cura bug. Try 24% infill just to see what happens.

    Hi gr5,

today I found some time to check further but all give same result.

Here is the screenshot for 24% infill:

(click with right mouse button and choose 'Open in new tab' to get it in full size)

    I also tested with 10%, 99%, 100% all with same result. :-(

Could you post the stl file somewhere? Maybe dropbox? And provide a link?

    Hi,

I am back from Lithuania in good old Germany now and as supposed, here is the link to the STL file:

Yes, I saw the same bug. This is definitely a bug. Cura probably thinks the area is too small to bother putting in infill. But it should do this. @nallath @daid - a bug in cura - if the infill area is only about 4 mm^2 or smaller then it seems to skip the infill.

    Hi gr5,

    thanks for testing.

    I found a bug - wow ;-)

Good luck for the Ultimaker development team to solve this issue.

    Thanks!

PS: How do we get an informatiopn if this issue is solved?

Well the right thing to do is to add it to the bug tracker in github - you have to create a github account and then you get emails for every issue fixed and listed and discussed.

    Hi gr5,

I already have an github account, but where can I add a bug now?

Could you provide a link to the ultimaker github bugtracker?

    Thanks!

The bug is now solved. The next release won't have the bug.

@gr5 Please refer to me instead of nallath or daid, since I am currently the CuraEngine software engineer.

I think i'm the only GUI software guy with a forum account. Daid hasn't been active for cura for a while.

    Hi,

today I downloaded Cura 15.09.81 beta and did a test on this issue.

It seems that the problem is solved - however I face two issues:

    1.

I set 50% infill density. But the infill density from Cura 15.02.1 is more dense compared to 15.09.81 beta (please compare to the  picture in my first post in this thread)

(I played a littlebit. If I set infill to 80% on 15.09.81 then it seems to be same as 50% in 15.02.1). So for some reason 50% on both version do not give same infill.

    - Why is this?

    Kg9Tuov.jpg

    2.

If layer view is turned on and I use up/down arrow on keybord to move through the layers then the layer is changed as expected but the 3D view rotates at same time!?!

BTW I am on Windows 7 professional 64Bit

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
