I put my un spooled roll of faberdashery on the floor and put on a print. But the print failed I think because the filament got tangled with its self and stopped the feeder.

What is the best way to use the faberdashery unspooled filament to prevent tangles.

I have also had troubles with this filament being grinded down and getting stuck In the feeder. It could be related, Idk.

Thanks

I pretty much always use Fab. On first use I take it from the packaging and unwind/rewind it, making similar sized loops to how it was delivered. It then lays on the floor whilst being used. Personally I find that 50metre lengths is the largest I like to work with; recoiling 100meters is a bit tricky, but that may just be me, probably easier with two pairs of hands.

It can occasionally twist up again(I think that is a function of how well you have recoiled it) but if you lay it on the floor so that the top loops are spread horizontally towards the printer you should spot it before it becomes a problem.

Having said all that I still prefer this physical method to using a spool of filament from other manufacturers.

I use Faberdashery as well, it's a bit awkward but avoids the very tight coils and high friction that come with a normal spool.

They supplied me with a .stl file for a folding spool holder, works very well, holds 100m of filament.

I've put a reply on how to handle loose fillament that may be a solution, it works for me.
