Heater error

Recommended Posts

Posted · Heater error

Hi,

After some minutes of printing, my UM2 stops and says: heater error. This started suddenly and is now repetitive.

They are deep enough in the heating block (nothing changed there). Are flow is all right and no contact of heating block with other parts of the print head.

What to do?

Hi, I have moved your topic to the troubleshooting section.

Do you have a temp error in your bed or printhead?

Do you have an Olsson Block?

What happens when you leave your fans off?

Looking forward hearing from you!

Don't know. It just says: heater error

Do you have an Olsson Block?

Yep. Using it for about 6 months now,

What happens when you leave your fans off?

Will be testing, but i fear the printing results.

The screen should say temp bed error if it is the heated bed.

If it doesn't it is probably the heated bed.

Such a temp error can be triggered when the heaterblock takes too much time to heat up.

This can because the heaterblock is touching the fanshroud and the fanshroud will act as a heatsink.

It could also be that there is just a little connection, and the cool of the air pushes it to an temp error.

By leaving the fan off, it may not give you the best print, but if you don't get a temp error your fan shroud is probably touching your heaterblock.

Let me know it plays out, thanks

The error occurred while printing with PETG at 242 C nozzle temp.

Started testing the same print but now with PLA at 210 C, as that was the only thing different from previous prints.

It did not say temp bed error but heater - error.

So the heater error occurs when nozzle does not reach or hold temp according to settings?

No problem with PLA. So the higher temp of PETG is a problem when in second layer the fans switch on.

Any suggestions?

You could change the temperature on the layer the fan goes on to +1 C. This it's what I do so the heater heats sooner and I can avoid the head going too low because the change of temp.

Heater error is generated by the firmware when the measured temperature does not increase enough during heatup (usually indicating a loose connection with the heater cardrige). This could also be caused by having to much cooling on the nozzle, which results in to little power for the nozzle to actualy reach the required delta T
