Yes, they are the same dimensions. (but since the UM2+ got a new TFM coupler that holds up much better, i do not know why you would want to use the "legacy" glass filled PTFE couplers for the UM2+)

I own a UM2 and I`m asking myself, if I should buy the coupler, because mine deformed, now or wait till all the upgrade stuff is out. Just thought they were all PTFE.

Yes 3dsolex is TFT and Ultimaker 2+ is TFM

@Giddi: If not, you still may use the Korneel spacer...

Both PTFE couplers are of high quality. 3dSolex 'certifies' their TFT to be used at 255°C continously, together with the I2K even at 300°C continously. Mayby we will soon see a similar statement from Ultimaker.

But will they (3dSolex) fit with the new "Spring replacement"?

it should.. the design should be remarkably similar..

the one from ultimaker does allow you to secure the hot end couple completely to the block, mine requires you to "fine tune" the pressure

I would just like to add my thanks to Ultimaker for providing the upgrade kit.

I just wanted to provide an alternative voice to all those that say everyone has already upgraded their printer and doesn't need the upgrade kit.

I use my printer a lot (and it is one of the early ones) and I haven't had time to mess around trying unofficial upgrades to find out if they are better because I need the machine to work.

(and I should say it has worked, for 2 years, with minimal maintenance)

So despite using the printer a lot I haven't got any of the upgrades in the upgrade kit.

I am delighted to be able to purchase a full official upgrade grade kit that I can be confident will work and minimize the down time of the printer.

My only question (a part from how much!) is will the kit come with detailed instructions on how to perform the upgrade?

    Thanks

    Peter

I was looking through the firmware repository since I needed a custom firmware and I've only just now realized that the UM2+ was codenamed JarJar.

it just really makes me not want it anymore.... irrational I admit..

I also want to go through the firmware to find out if there are some "Meesa" easter eggs

Will the upgrade be released coming month or will it be Q2 afterall ?

My nozzle is needing a replacement, and I want to go to the olsen block. But rather buy the new heater etc.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
