Adjusting Z axis steps per mm

Hi

Newbe here I attempted to adjust my z axis steps per mm because my prints were undersized on height please forgive me I'm an old machinist the parts were short by a 1/16 of a inch so I proceeded to adjust the steps according to directions I found online. Well I got to the point where the movement is correct now but the motors are running very fast now is this normal or is there something else I have to adjust ?
