Hi!

That´s a question about an issue I am having with Cura.

The thing is that I must print again a piece that I already printed few months ago. When I printed it, I only had a 0.4mm Nozzle, but now I have a 0.8 and I want to use it because the print time is shorter.

While I uploaded the file to Cura and change the settings to a 0.8 Nozzle, I realize that depending of the Nozzle diameter, Cura changes the supports. I was wondering if it is a software bug, because I don´t have a clue why Cura does it.

"it's a bug not a feature". Um. Well it's a feature that you can't control this independently.

Cura has an invisible setting called "line width" which is controlled by a combination of nozzle size and shell width. If (as you should always do) you set the shell width to a multiple of nozzle width then line width will be equal to nozzle width.

All traces - brim/shell/infill/support - everything - is drawn at "line width". It would be nice to have the support be a different line width but there's no way to do that.

So now by default the grid is at 15% fill amount - so with thicker lines the lines are farther apart. If you want the grid lines closer together try 30%.

Also you can reduce the amount of brim lines by half since your nozzle is twice as thick.

ignatius you can try the "new cura" beta if you want. Send me a private message and I'll send you a link. I've sliced and printed a few objects with it and it seems to work pretty well. There are still some bugs but I don't think you will notice them.
