Maintenance: Fan Speed - Does it activate all 3 fans in test? UM2(+)

Hi,

I damaged my printer with an ABS print gone horribly wrong (unattended)

2 (the side fans) of 3 fans on print head are spinning when I control fan speed from the maintenance menu, should the third rear nozzle fan be spinning when I do this - or does it mean it is dead.

I killed the heater cartridge trying to remove the ABS disaster too, so I can't try get it hot to do a test print to see if the third one comes on.

Any ideas much appreciated. I've found a replacement for this tiny 3rd fan on eBay but I just want to check with the community before I click purchase.

Thanks!

The third fan only comes on if the board gets above 40C. You could heat the temp sensor to 50C and it should come on. This is only true of the newer printers that were made more recently - I'm going to very inaccurately guess - jan 2015 and newer. Circuit boards from before then turn the 3rd fan on at power up.

Oh - and 3dsolex sells good quality heaters - get a 35W while you are at it.
