Any ideas why I get black or burnt layers?

Like the title says, I'm getting weird black lines through my prints at random layers.

I put a fresh nozzle on and a new Teflon isolator but I still got a line on my print.

Any ideas? I've got a 3dsolex i2k insulator installed, could it be that degrading or something? I'm also using a Bondtech QR extruder instead of stock. Filament is pretty new pla from Push Plastics.

maybe there is an intermittant contact somwhere at the pt100, it's cable or at the connector, so that the temp reading is low and the firmware puts the heater on steroids to compensate?

    Hi Joelmongeon,

    Interesting print you have there.

I do not use the I2K insulator, but I do know about this insulation "washer" is kind of dark brown colored.

I'll agree it looks like a high temp issue, but if this was true it would not come back printing perfectly like this, I'll think.

Intermittent temperature issue, sure a little fluctuation may be, but not sky hi suddenly, I'll think. (There is another tread in here with more information about this.)

Maybe the filament itself is polluted (with some gunk) and making this "burnt" layer. I’ve read a lot about such polluted filament, anything might be possible.

Your own theory might be as good as any other, but a check will give you an answer.

    Good luck

    Torgeir.
