I wrote a simple plugin to display the Current Layer Number on the screen. I'd like to have it always active when I start Cura. Is there a way to do that?

Thanks.

As far as I remember there was a post from nallath somewhere that this is not implemented yet (or there is a dedicated reason to not do so)....

    Maybe @nallath could answer this...

It's not implemented at the moment. We're considering doing this though.

One of the reasons why we didn't do it right away was due to confusing with the old version, where people had postprocessing scripts active without them noticing.

Any update on this? Hope it's acceptable to be bumping the thread. I just was thinking the same thought, and was doing some searching to see if it has already been done. (Hello to dahai8 who got me to the point of having a working script!)

Dont know if it has been added to the git or internal feature tracking but hope so too...

Same for support of extruder selection as the nice postprocessor of @Dim3nsineer (https://github.com/Dim3nsioneer/Cura-Plugins/wiki/Select-Extruder-plugin) is also not working any more...

... or is anybody able to take a look and port it to a 2.3 postprocessor ;-)

Just wondering if there's any way to keep track of what/any progress might be happening on this. Possibly should I post a new topic elsewhere advocating for this? Does anyone know if it would be a relatively easy thing to implement or what the method for implementing it might be?

    Thanks!

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
