Extruded head friction

How easy should it be to move the extruder head around by hand? I know the troubleshooting guide mentions too much friction. But how much is too much? Mine seems to be rather tough to move by hand though it moves just fine via the control panel etc... I've greased the rods and checked the x and y axis for squareness and everything seems to be close as far as I can tell. It seems like once I get the head going it moves smoother until I stop...

Thanks in advance!

I Think I need about 2-3N to move the head by hand.

The force necessary increased when I installed bigger NEMA17 steppers, for obvious reasons: if you move the deactivated steppers, they become generators, and needs quite a bit of force to "make electricity". The only way to really check if your XY assembly runs smooth is to undo the steppers and the belts.
