printing 2 colors merge not succesfull

Hi,

I want to print a part that consists out of 2 colors.

How do I successfully print this part?

What I've tried so far:

1.) Save 2 seperate STL's that are exported out of 1, 3d-model

- Open both files in Cura

- Merge both files.

ERROR: files are not merged perfectly aligned.

2.) From 1 3d-model save to 2 separate 3d-models and manually export them into 2 STL files

- Open both files in Cura

- Merge both files.

ERROR: files are not merged perfectly aligned.

I know the origin is the same in my base part and it should be the same in the exported STL's, because they come out of the same 3d-model.

Software: MacOs Sierra 10.12

Solidworks 2016 sp5.0

Cura 2.3.1

Printer: Ultimaker 3

Hi @Karel1986, thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!

The error message is an indication that during the creation of the STL files / CAD modeling the point of origin was not clearly identified.

Hence Cura does not know what the bottom is for example, and how these models should behave together.

Perhaps you can find some more help in regard of SolidWorks here.

If you want to get printing and try dual extrusion, here is a library with available dual extrusion models.
