Difference Between appimage and PPA Versions

So I installed Cura via the PPA, but it is missing several plug-ins, one of which is the Post-Processing Extension. When I run the appimage version, however, the plug-ins are there. Will the PPA version be updated to include these or should I just stick with the appimage instead?

There's a separate PPA that includes the plugins.

Note that the PPA is not officially supported by Ultimaker, the AppImage is.
