I am in the UK and looked with interest at the Ultimaker, after seeing it on the Gadget Show. Before looking any further, I would like to find out how good the prints are for my models. Would anyone be able to print me off one of my designs, in ABS and high quality. I would offer reasonable payment by Paypal.

Not sure what the difference would be quality wise, but looking at using ABS as an ongoing material. I assume that the resolution would be the same for both materials.

Depends on how long your products needs to last. For example, it's used in body implants where it degrades in 6 months to 2 years. (wikipedia)

Degrade of PLA in "normal" conditions takes many years. I cannot find the source right now, but I've read 70 years or more.

What's more a problem of PLA is the low glass-transition temperature. Which means it goes soft somewhere between 60-70C, which is possible in a car in the sun. Dishwashers also give problems.

Send me the file and I will give it a go...

I'm from UK so postage isn't any problem.

    Regard

    Peter
