Check for grinding of the filament since your feeder tension may have been too low . If it is grinding, ground up bits of filament could be causing the bowden tube to periodically jam up, so you could try blowing out the bowden tube as well.

Bingo! Thanx guys. When i pulled the feeder apart i put the tension screw back wrong (came up from the case). Shhhhhh don't tell anyone...
