Cura 2.7 - gcode flavours (Marlin tastes different to RepRap!)

Hi Folks,

One change in 2.7 that I don't think has been mentioned is that the gcode flavour setting has been reworked a little so it now supports Marlin and RepRap as separate flavours. Before it had "RepRap(Marlin/Sprinter)" flavour and the gcode produced had to be acceptable to both the Marlin and RepRap firmwares. But as those firmwares do have some incompatibilities, it's beneficial to be able to target each.

When you move to 2.7, if you were using RepRap(Marlin/Sprinter) before, it will now show as simply "Marlin". If you are using RepRap firmware (i.e. a Duet board) then change the gcode flavour to be "RepRap" in the printer profile you are using.

What benefits does the ability to select RepRap firmware give?

With this change, it is now possible to specify jerk values for printers using RepRap firmware (it couldn't be done before).

Not yet incorporated, but hopefully in the future it will be, is a change to using relative extruder mode with RepRap firmware rather than the absolute extruder mode that is used at the moment.
