no display of file

Just downloaded Cura 2.4. Was able to open a PNG file but display is blank. Icons on left side are also blank. No printer attached at this time ( it hasn't arrived yet ). Windows 7,java enabled. Any ideas? perhaps because there is no printer?

When you opened the png file did it ask you questions like how large to make it, how thick, and so on? It may be that you made it thinner than even one layer? Try dimensions such as 100mm by 100mm and 5mm thick.

Why would you download and install such an old version now? Cura 2.6.2 is the current stable version, and Cura 2.7 is in public beta.
