Problems with PVA material

Good day to everyone.

I am using an Ultimaker 3 extended printer and I have some problems with the PVA filament, after 1 day or 20 hours of work the extruder stops printing and does not print with the PVA material and the printing becomes a disaster (due to the absence of supports).

In the part of the feeder the material is worn out by the effect of the motor, someone who can help me and tell me what the reason for the extruder is clogged.

I have been cleaning the extruder twice, between extrusion periods of about 33 Hrs

Note: I am using the temperatures that handle the filament and the CURA software.

Hi @DavidE1292, thank you for your post.

Do you have an idea how long the PVA has been exposed to humidity? So, how long ago did you unpack it and how did you store it?

PVA is sensitive to humid, both water and just in the air, and it can influence how it behaves. It will get softer, and the feeder motor can easily dig a hole in the filament.

Do you have an idea about the humidity percentage where your Ultimaker is operating? If it is too humid, this is how you can try to evaporate the moist:

Heating the filament for 2 hours at 45 - 55 °C. The easiest way to do this is by putting the spools in their original packaging (in a cardboard box, without a plastic bag) on the heated bed at the required temperature (45 - 55 °C).

Warning: do not use a household oven. Make sure that the PVA filament has cooled to room temperature before inserting it into the 3D printer.

Hiya,

this seems to be a common problem. here is my solution after I had this come out and yes the white spot in the middle is the hole i was trying to extrude through for 10mm of the core.

so I made this. it's in the 3d prints section with a link. so far it has worked for me for 60 hours continuous printing. my printer never stop so to have to wait 2 hrs or so isn't a viable option.
