There is not an easy way to do this, the workaround requires enabling the developer mode (this makes the printer very insecure).

And then using the Linux command line, here is some guide for using connman to do this: https://communities.intel.com/thread/60242

There are some more people struggling with this though: https://ultimaker.com/en/community/50136-configuring-static-ip-address-for-wifi-connection or https://ultimaker.com/en/community/27035-how-to-set-ip-address-without-wifi-or-dhcp

So please consider if configuring a static DHCP lease is an option instead.

I would also request an easier way to do this.  Particularly if using the IP address for history reporting, it would be nice to rely on this retaining a static IP.

I wanted to do this without using DHCP but eventually when I tried the DHCP method I was like "well that was easy!  I should have tried that first!".

Having said that - if you don't know linux maybe it's time to learn a little?  Maybe not.

I agree that it would be great if you could set the IP address from the control panel.

    Hi,

I need to put an static IP address on a Ultimaker 3 extended. We are using this machine on a special network in my company so i can't play with the DHCP.

I try to start the wifi setup to get the hotspot of the printer then I go in with SSH, I edit the /etc/network/interfaces file but nothing change. The printer take the APIPA address (169.254).

    Can someone help me ?

    Thanks a lot

    Regards

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
