Hmmmm... that little kitchen trolley looks like a very good idea. My whole "living room table" is pretty much the "Ultimaker-table" now and it's a bloody mess. Moving it to something like this, with it's limited space, would force me to keep it a bit more tidy. Maybe buy two and fuse them together so my old UMO can get off the floor and actually be used again.

Being able to sit on the couch while tinkering sure is comfy though...

went for the trolley, as it was buy a £35 ikea trolley, or pay another £80 for an extra half a meter of work surface, good thing is trolley will be the same height as (healthy) stand up work surface, and i cant imagine you would have much success with an ultimaker on a shelf on the wall!

i do like the couch idea, maybey the living room table may get a use after-all...

It still needs a bit of polish such as moulding to hide the screws but it's basically done. Well, except for one thing that really was the purpose of building this in the first place, a fan and filter. I guess I'll add that later... Took a bit more time and effort than I had hoped but I'm glad it's finally done.

Sorry about the overexposed pics, too tired to take new ones right now :p

This is what I needed that measurement for, @SandervG :)

    @neotko

My printing room definately looks more like yours :)

And I like to be able to see my printers from the side... see the filament. ..

@dim3nsioneer , I did that just because I knew it would piss someone off :D

@neotko , check the first page for my first entry in this thread ;)

@ultiarjan , fair point but to be honest it's so rare that something goes wrong with the spool that I don't really mind not seeing back there during operation. You need to open it up to start the print and/or change the filament so that's when I'll look over the spool and make sure it's doing ok.

Also, I'm thinking about buying a bunch of spool holders and mount them on the inner part of the lid. I should be able to store 6-7 spools that way. Not sure though, might just add a bunch of weight for no real good reason.

Really need to figure out filtering though. Would be nice to get rid of smells and any nasties, if any (I know there isn't much, but still, if you can minimize, why not).

I have a different theory. You will replace the UMO by the UM3... then it's chronological again... ;)

I 'm thinking of installing a ventilator (like the one's in a bathroom) in my printroom for the occasional ABS print. Lets say I also more or less cover the top (I now only cover the front) would having the ventilator in the ceiling +/- 1m above the printer create to much draft ? Anybody any experience in the best location (v.s. the printer) to place a ventilator?

Here's my little corner (half of my home office) that I do various little hobbies.

    um2-everything-corner-sm.jpg?dl=0&raw=1

As you can see, I've bought a few things from IKEA. I have some 3D Printing, Legos (Technic, Mindstorm, etc), Electronics stuff, plus a bunch of other random stuff in my little corner.

Just created a post on that IKEA Drawer unit I transferred my UM2 to.

This i like. I'm using one UM2 Non-stop. Not healty i think. I would like to get rid of the noise and smell.

The drawers are very nice. I would add some air extraction as well.

I have an actual corner for my UMO, sitting pretty on top of a steamer chest my great(great, not sure how many greats are in there) grandmother took with all of her belongings to start a new life in America. My happy corner/Ultimaker also has a severe case of attracting all the tools from every corner of my house. Need to get some led strips to make it shinny and bright.

    Nice happy corner.

If your grandma only new that nowadays you don't have to travel to America, you just 3D print it...

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
