Hi to all,

I made the original file, based on measurements an 1,5 hour of work in Autocad.

The export did seem to complex for printing, and therefore mr. Reedijk took my wireframe model, and remodelled it in Vectorworks.

I will try to get it, So GR5 can share it with everyone.

How to replace the wheel mechanically, this is the explanation in Dutch, I will post a picture later, that might be easier than translating.

Kind regards,

Willem

hreedijk sent me the file.  It's up on youmagine now:

My thanks to you both. That is a nice model. Kudos to the modeler(s) and the cleanliness of which it bears. Nice to see such work.

I do not have any fisher price toys, but I do enjoy and appreciate such nice modeling. :)

    Hi stephaluche,

I guess the person I bought my Explorer from ( my mom gave away mine) just chopped the axl with big Pincers, and then grinded the end a bit to get a flat surface.

In the post from GR5 you can see a picture of how you can mount the printed wheel.

It takes some skills + the right equipment....so check your network if necessary.

Succes, and please post a picture of the result.

    Kind regards,

    Willem.

If you want them printed in Nylon... you will pay the price they ask for printing in Nylon...

If you choose for PLA one wheel will cost €29,51...

If you order 2 or more, they will get cheaper...

I have also been wondering about that. I have seen the toy a couple of times, yes. But I think with a bit of searching in a hobby-shop or brico-shop, people should be able to find replacement wheels, like the standard wheels for shopping carts, or chairs,...

Anyway, 3D-printing them will be an excellent test of layer-bonding. If kids can't destroy it, then nothing will.  :-)

    Lol, for sure.

It just seems like it's really popular, I say that only having seen it here, but I'm just surprised so many people went through the trouble of signing up here JUST for that.

    Hi All,

I have read this conversation with a lot of interest. I live in Belgium (Brussels), and our Fisher Price Explorer's wheels are beyond repair. I would be very interested to know if someone can help printing four wheels, and at what price that would be? Thanks again for any feedback/help!

Best wishes, and happy winter greetings to all!

    Sarah

I think the easiest, cheapest and fastest solution would be to go to a brico-shop, section "cart wheels". Wheels with a 100mm diameter start from around 10 euro. They will be much more durable than 3D-printed wheels, and much cheaper. You could use cart wheels, remove the outer metal holder, and only keep the wheel. In brico-shops, they also sell metal rods for making the axis.

Hubo has a huge selection of wheels:

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
