suggested simplified settings for linear advance

I use Cura  to manage our print farm and we recently updated the firmware on our machines to include linear advance. Linear advance requires a lot of settings in the slicer to be turned off (mostly things involving flow compensation) like combing, retraction priming, wiping, and coasting to name a few. It would be really convenient if there was an option in cura that you could enable, that would disable all of these settings so you dont have to worry about scrounging through hundreds of settings to find the ones that have this effect, and it would just disable them for you.

Seems to me that the profiles would do that for you. Make your changes and save that to be applied in the future. Or create a small, generic project file to load and just bring the models into it.

    Why confuse things even more?

Because Linear advance, JKN advance or pressure advance (however you want to call it) will improve especially the corners of your printed objects.

Have a look/read here: JKN advance documentation

    or https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dr-henschke.de%2Fadvance.html&edit-text=&act=url

I remember seeing pictures of bad corners in another thread. You can for sure go without but if you are looking for perfection you probably want to use it.

I don't think the UM2 series will get such an update but maybe the UM3 ( :fingerscrossed:

Your original posit was for Cura to add extra settings so you would not have to hunt for these things every time you print. That was answered. I am not disputing what linear advance can do, just the bit about wanting specialty settings so you can click one button for just one feature set, when you can already do that with the current setup. I would rather them solve other issues than adding new buttons just to make things easy for one instance.
