3d solex 0.6mm print core in CURA

Hello, sorry I am new to this

I wonder if you could help me please.

I have recently bought a 3d Solex print core (set of 4).

I am using CURA on an Ultimaker 3 printer and I don't know how to change the Print core size. The drop down menu doesn't give me the choice I am after.

I would like to change a core size to 0.6mm and having all the correct settings in CURA that work well with it.

Your help is greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

Fulvio

Just use the AA 0.4 profile - even when I use an AA 0.8 core I still use the AA 0.4 profile as I find it to be better.  At least for me.

Then change line width to your nozzle width (in your case set "line width" to 0.6mm).

    >My plan is to use a 0.6 3d solex steel nozzle for printing woodfill filament.

    >So I don't need to change anything else?

Right.  0.6 and 0.4 aren't all that different.  You shouldn't have to change temperature or speed or layer height or anything else.  Just change the line width.  I prefer to do 0.6mm line width for a 0.6mm nozzle but it will work just fine if you do a 0.55mm line width.  Maybe even a little better result depending what you care about.  The 0.6 might be slightly more dimensionally accurate.  You can probably push up the speed more if .55mm line width.  maybe.

    Hello everyone.

I got my 3d solex print core today but my UM3 keeps saying that I need to change the configuration. Also Cura keeps saying that and refuses to print :(

I don't know what to do.

    Please help!

Was your core programmed as "hardcore"?  You can switch it to be AA 0.4 if you follow these instructions (which is what I recommend) or you might be able to ignore these messages - not sure.  But certainly changing it to AA 0.4 will get you going:

First put your UM3 into developer mode - it's in the menus on the UM3.  Your machine needs to be on your network (wifi or ethernet) if it isn't already.  Once it's on the network it will show the IP address at the top of the main screen.

Next you need ssh which is built into linux and Macintosh terminal but not windows.  For windows I recommend putty:
    https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html

In putty you don't type the "ssh" part but just put the ultimaker@111.222.333.444 part and click "open".

ssh ultimaker@1.2.3.4  (don't enter 1.2.3.4 - enter the ip address listed on your UM3)
    username/password:
ultimaker/ultimaker   (much easier than root/ultimaker as it takes you straight into the utility to do sendgcode)

Choose the type and size from the list below - T0 is left slot and T1 is right slot so before running any of these make sure the core you want to program is in the left slot if it will be AA and in the right slot if it will be BB

After programming the core, slide it out and back into the slot at which point the UM3 will re-read the eeprom and realize it's new state.  The software that does X,Y,Z offset calibrations for a core goes by serial number and that can't be changed so you shouldn't lose any calibration data when you do the below changes.

This is a great thread, thank you gr5.

Just a question on the .25 programming.

I see the second line references E32350

As the other nozzle offsets seem to match their diameter,

the trend led me to expect E32500.

Is the nozzle actually a bit undersize?

I also presume, since cura can't handle 0.6 AA yet, the gcode to program an AA hardcore to 0.6 would just screw stuff up

    Is that correct?

    Thanks again

    John

    Bump!

Nobody answered JohnInOttawa's question so I thought I'd give it a bump because I have the same question:

I also presume, since cura can't handle 0.6 AA yet, the gcode to program an AA hardcore to 0.6 would just screw stuff up

    Is that correct?

Maybe it will be a moot point when Cura supports the CC hot end?

Also, I just installed Bondtech QR extruders and printed ColorFabb XT-CF20 with a .6 mm ruby nozzle with line width set to .15 mm, The results are good but I think I am seeing just a bit of over-extrusion. Anyone else seeing that?

Is it possible to change it to be recognised as a CC 0.6 ?
