It looks like someone is experimenting with a different slicer program using gyroid infill design.  Doesn't help us but maybe this might catch on and get implemented in other slicers too.

 

I could even see myself using this without any surfaces in quite a few things.

My understanding is that it's no stronger than a normal part but it's incredibly light weight and basically as strong as if it was solid infill.
