Hi and welcome to the forums.

Which Ultimaker printer do you have? If it is an UM2, then take the SD card out and power up again. Does it help? If yes, it could be a malformed MATERIAL.TXT file.

The next idea is highly unlikely, but if you can, try it anyway. If you have another power cable, use that.

Check the 2 ribbon cables.  You may have them swapped or one may be inserted backwards.

If that doesn't help then contact your reseller for help.

    Hello,

I have the exact same situation. Did you get to solve it after all?

    Thank you

Hey, No I never did. I put it aside and started another ongoing project. If it's still on warranty you could get a new one sent out. Mine isn't. But if you do I'd love to know the outcome before I shell out 200plus for the new controller.

I managed to get it fixed. It seems that there is no firmware installed by default on the controller, so the first time it boots it looks like this. You need to connect it to Cura over USB, and there use the Upgrade Firmware button on the Manage Printers screen. The printer would say "not connected", but the firmware did install and then it booted correctly.

Once you have the firmware on, make sure the EXT1 and EXT2 cables match what's on the board, I messed around with them trying to get it fixed and at first it looked exactly like before, all blocks. But when I put them in the correct position, it loaded up the text UI.

    Hope this helps.

Brilliant. Thanks a lot for sharing. I know for a fact the ext1 and ext2 cables match as I messed around with them as well. Cool. I'll get right on to that. Best of luck and happy printing
