SolidWorks plugin no longer works with Cura 3.5

1586348247_SWXPlugin.JPG.c99afebaa42da36f63d559e5c869e9cf.JPG

Fails both from inside Cura 3.5 when opening a SolidWorks file from the Cura File menu as well as from inside SolidWorks using the Cura macro.  Worked fine in Cura 3.4.1

    I see several errors:

    • serial.serialutil.SerialException: could not open port 'COM5': PermissionError(13, 'Access is denied.', None, 5)
    • cura.Machines.MaterialManager.__addMaterialMetadataIntoLookupTree [255]: Material custom_material_cartesio_0.4_mm contains a variant 0.4 mm that does not exist. It will not be added into the material lookup tree.
    • UM.VersionUpgradeManager._getUpgradeTasks [278]: Config file [.\Monoprice+Select+Mini+V2+%28E3D%29_user.inst.cfg] is of version [4000005], which is different from the defined version [2000000], no upgrade task for it from type [user].

I've forwarded it to the developers as well (I'm currently not working on Cura).

OK thanks. Cura 3.4.1 is running fine for me, so I don't know why there would be a problem transferring the settings to 3.5.0.

I may have had a Adafruit Circuit Python Express (microcontroller) plugged into COM 5 (USB) at the time. It currently has an intermittent communication error which I have been troubleshooting off and on for the last week. I am not sure how that would affect CURA though.

Any chance having a feather in the printer menu while printing to have a silent mode for example it can slow down or have a printing mode geared for quite operation for people who close to there bedroom it would be good if this was a feature that could be turned on and off during printing for long prints and allow it to continue printing and not cooling down for example if pausing the print

We're waiting for the author of the solidworks plugin to make an update that is compatible with 3.5. Once that's done, it'll be available for update through the toolbox.

Hi @James777, could you send us your cura configuration directory? It's in your user directory "C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\cura". Thanks in advance.

    Ultimaker Dark Theme

Monitor screen, issues with black text on black background.

Also I feel like the menu bar needs more space between items.

Curs 3.5 is soooooo sloooooow on my core 2 duo iMac running El Cap. Tons of pinwheels in layer mode. I think I'll have to switch back to 3.4x until this gets ironed out.

    hello
I installed Cura 3.5.0 today. Unfortunately it is extremely slow on my mac, absolutely unusable.
Where Cura 3.4.1 needs less than 1% of the CPU power when opening a menu item (2x Quadcore 3GHz), Cura 3.5.0 is pulling away 100% CPU power when opening one menu item.
I made a screencast here and am waiting for the next version.

    Mac 3.1 2xQuadcore 3GHz, with OSX 10.11.6 , 32Gb RAM and SSD hard disks

    log is attached
I have deleted the log file, no change

    Hiya,

just to add to the  list.  when I change one of most of the settings I don't get the Prepare button, it remains with 'print over network'.

I have to adjust the quality layer height to get the button to show.

Cura 3.5.0 crashes on every model file that I want to load.

Selfmade .stl and .stl from thingiverse.

    Selfmade .obj

    Curamade .gcode

Always crash without error messages. The Cura Window goes away.

System Windows 10 with Nvidia 1070, All drivers are up-to-date.

Delete config files has no efect.

    Cura 3.4.1 works fine.

Yes, I get the same behaviour quite often. My "quick fix" is just to hit F5 which reloads the model which wakes the Prepare button up again!

today i tested a fresh installation on a newly created account on my Mac, data see above. In the first minutes Cura 3.5.0 ran remarkably fast, but became slower with every mouse click.
Then I installed this version on a virtual machine on my Mac under Windows 7 64 bit. There Cura runs fast and without any performance problems.

    @ahoeben, Cura devs,

Seems that I experienced a (at least at my machines) reproducable crash when opening already slices/stored gcode files with 3.5

Already checked the log-file but there seems no anormalies/errors listed.

    Any hint?

Huh, that is a great inconsistency on a consistent angle. You would think that if it warranted in in one spot, it would warrant it over an entire surface at the same angle and flatness.

When I have seen things like that in previous versions, there was a small hole or crack that the tower was trying to help.  Sometimes it would go through the object if there are holes and end up trying to support something further up.  It was always issues with the source object when I saw that though.

Without the model to verify, it is guess work. But I can say that I have made models that do the same thing. Basically ignore the angle except for an area or two and I can say that holes were not the problem. Very confident in my modeling procedures and the types of models it has happened on. Organics, yeah, but not basic extrusions and planar surfaces with single planes for the whole surface. And, to be clear, when I say single planes, I mean single polygons.

This model though, I cannot say.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
