hi there, a newbie here. I can't find any information about UMB OUT port at the back of S5 printer. I checked the manual and there's no information. Anyone know what is it for?

Many thanks!

It is a bus system for future addons. We will see what will come in the future to extend the possibilities....

Many thanks for a quick response. So at this moment there's nothing we can do with this port? It's there just in case some future firmware updates will allow to use it in some way or another?

    "UltiBus"

I know the meaning of "bus" in this situation, but I couldn't resist, it sounds like the vehicle which picks up Ultimaker employees to get to work every day like in very big companies ?

We had a van at some point that we also dubbed the ulti-bus. But even now, Ultimaker isn't big enough to have those kind of facilities ?

I would imagine that there will be a material station and air manager for the S3 eventually... Pure speculation though!

    Hi

The OP was looking at an S5. We now know the port plays with the Air Manager. If the S3 has the same sort of port then maybe someday there will be add ons for it as well. There is no way to know until Ultimaker sends out a product announcement. They don't seem to be big on the "never ending hints" game.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
