Cura 3.6 scaling problem

Recommended Posts

Posted · Cura 3.6 scaling problem

Hi ,

in Cura 3.6  ( using Windows 10)  there is a problem using the scaling function, uniform scaling disabeld.

This problem happens if you rotate the model first, e.g. by 90° ( on y  to z axis )

If you do now scaling only for y-axis, the absoulte vaule is changing for y-axis  but the %-value is changing for z-axis . Same happens for z-axis  while scaling of x axis is ok( probably depending on the intial rotation).

The scaling gizmo stays in orientation of the Cura workspace. The actual scaling is happening on the original model's x,y,z axis.

Wanna really mess with your head? Take original orientation, rotate 90° on an axis as you mentioned above, then rotate on the (local space axis) by any amount other than 90° *then* scale again. You will see two axis respond to the scaling.

I know there are a lot of possible  work-arround to overcome this error.

anyway also after rotation percentage value and absolute value should not scale different axis.

see attached pictures:

a1  = orginal

a2  = rotated by 90 °

a3  = scaled

    Could somebody please have a look at this peculiar scaling behavior (see video screenshot)?

    When I rotate a model in Cura 3.6 and scale it in non-uniform way, then -- after the first non uniform scaling -- just by clicking into the scale value windows it changes object sizes in strange ways. I do not think that this is the intended way...
