Hello everyone, I wanted to update the 3D printer. But I mistakenly chose the firmware files from S5 on the USB and the lights were turned off during the update (now it shows the logo all the time and the encoder is green.

Have you tried if the printer starts normally if you turn it off and on again?

Or did you mean that it is stuck at the logo now after the reboot?

Вы пробовали, если принтер запускается нормально, если вы выключите его и снова включите?

Или вы имели в виду, что он сейчас застрял на логотипе после перезагрузки?

After preloading, it hangs on the logo

Попробуйте, если это поможет, когда вы выключите его полностью и снова.

Just done it, turned it off and on. USB is not inserted. On the logo screen, the button is green

Ok, that's not good, and if the printer don't start normally you are not able to update with the correct firmware. Maybe someone else has another idea, but without a serial cable like this (https://thegr5store.com/store/index.php/um3upg/usb-serial-cable-f.html) I don't know any other possibilities to unbrick the printer.

You just have to remove the cover on the bottom to access the pins.

Yep, the recovery procedure as linked above should get your UM3 up and running again.

The reason we didn't protect against this type of mistake is that the software for S5 and UM3 is very similar. In fact, so much alike, that in the near future we are planning to make it the same update-package. But, for the S5 we had to increase some file partitions, and that's what is killing the UM3: a full disk. We can make protection routines in new software, but we were unable to add such functionality to software that's already used in the field (a chicken-egg problem).

When you are using the network based update functionality then you can't run into this update problem, but for offline printers you have to be careful which package you install.
