The extruder motor (E values in G-code) only determines the speed component of that equation (again, this is the one with the physical delays caused by the distance between extruder motor and hot-end).

I'm sorry to say that I can't agree with you. I'm afraid that you have some misunderstanding about the extruder and the flow rate. If this is offending, I feel deeply sorry. Thank you!

Np, it's fine to disagree on something, as long as it's civil 🙂

Anyways, Cura is open source, so if you have ideas and/or abilities to write something that could solve this (for either modifier meshes or adaptive layers), feel free to do so!

I believe that Adaptive Layers is a great idea. It automates and perfects the manual approach based on modifier meshes. It's absolutely a great idea. Thank you!

@curasurf - you are totally correct.  Multiply those 3 numbers to get the volumetric flow.  If the volumetric flow is constant then the speed of the extruder is constant and the flow is constant.

However of course you slow down on corners.  the printer doesn't actually go at the full speed requested.  It slows down on every corner based on the individual printers setting for "jerk" and acceleration.  Also when there is a travel move, flow goes to zero briefly.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
