A plaster figure prototype for the architecture project

Hi guys! Happy to share my new work!

 

I have modeled and printed a plaster figure prototype, from which I will be able to take off the uniform and cast copies for my big architecture project!

 

In order to do this, I had scanned the original plaster figure using the 3D scanner. Then I corrected the model, removed all the chips and flaws of the original and printed it out using white PLA SnowFlake plastic on a Ultimaker 3D printer. Layer thickness 0.1 mm. The photo on the left is the original, and on the right you can see the printed model.

That is a very good scan indeed!!  Im so used to touching up scans now its usually faster to just model the darn things from scratch, but that always add 'artistic' elements. I only scan using photogrametry. Yours looks much higher res. Out of curiosity how much is that scanner? Im assuming its very expensive? I always try and justify buying a 3d scanner... yet to find a real case which photogrametry cant answer. If I couldnt model a laser scanner would be my only option but until now exact scae hasnt been required. The benefits of Photogrametry is that its essentially free assuming you have a camera, or camera phione. and crappy cameras with 9-16Mp sensors produce better scans imo.

 

But again a great scan and a great print!!

Just curious but how much are these scanners? I really hate it when prices aren't included on the websites. It reminds me of expensive gym memberships. You have to directly enquire.

The prices on RangeVision are from 10,000 - 20,000 USD (plus minus, depending on what country you live in)

 

RangeVision Spectrum: 5,000 usd 

RangeVision Pro 2M: 15,000 usd

RangeVision Pro 5M: 20,000 usd
