Support Material for use with XSTRAND

Posted · Support Material for use with XSTRAND

I've just bought the CC Red 0.6 print core so I can produce parts made from XSTRAND GF30-PA6 on my S5.

Please can someone suggest the best support material to use? I had assumed that Ultimaker Breakaway would be ok. Also, does the surface plate require a special preparation/material for adhesion? For my work up to now I use a glue stick. Is this ok for XSTRAND?

While not on an Ultimaker, I've had great results with XSTRAND GF30-PA6 and 3DXTECH PA6-GF30 used in conjunction with Taulman SAC1060 support material (dual extruder machines). SAC1060 is specifically formulated for use with Nylon materials, serving as a breakaway support material - I prefer using it over soluble support materials like BVOH (HydroFill, etc), prints come out much nicer.

Glue stick works well for glass filled nylons.
