Jogdial/Scroll Wheel/Rotary Encoder... ?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Jogdial/Scroll Wheel/Rotary Encoder... ?

Hello,

I am searching for an input device similar to the rotary wheel/button on the Ulticontroller for a project I am working on, but am having trouble finding one.

Does anyone know what they actually called?

Cheers

- Andrew

The guy who invented it, Bernhard, is active over on groups.google.com in the ultimaker group. Try posting this question there.

Hi Roo,

It's called a "Rotary Encoder". They're common parts and easy to find with the integrated button.

Cheers,

Troy.

Thanks Troy... I had a feeling it was (see my post title) but needed to get clarification!

This looks like it might be a similar one to the Ultimaker - I like the clicky haptic feedback you get whilst turning it: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9117

Best

- Roo
