Too much material used for support

Can anybody tell me why Cura put that many material around an object when support is needed?

Can I prevent this and have the support structure build only where it needs to be?

I have a new Ultimaker 3 now, with a new Cura Version.

My old Ultimaker 2 with the older Cura version just prints support structures where its needed.

Can I achieve that method  here as well?

Try saving the project (File.Save) as a .3mf file and post it here. That will help gurus to understand the issue.
