FYI it's harder to get a copy of cura 15.X these days so I'm hosting it here (sorry, I only have the windows version):

Cura 15.04.06 for windows

It doesn't have nearly as many features as the latest cura and doesn't support UM3 or newer printers and it supports dual color printers but not second-extruder-support.  But it works very well for 90% of printers out there and in some cases produces better prints (not sure why).  I usually use the latest Cura but occasionally still use this old version when printing on my um2go printers.

Windows Cura 15.04.06  is the only version that I can get to directly (USB) print to my Anet A8 printer. I mistakenly deleted it while installing a newer version. I have reinstalled 15.04.06 but now am having trouble with having the system recognize my progress plugin. I copied it in Cura_15.04.06/plugins directory but when I look at the Plugins tab to select it, it is not listed; only pauseAtZ.py and TweakAtZ.py. If I click the Open plugin location button at the bottom of the Plugins tab I see it listed with the other 2. I am kinda at a loss as to how to select and activate it. It has been a long time since I set this up originally so maybe there is something I am missing.

Thanks for any help.

Using on one of my computer the Cura Master 4.6  32 bits release made by Mark Burton aka @burtoogle

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s43vqzmi4d2bqe2/AABccoglNb8rVmEgN88uSMDpa/Windows-32

Working fine ( just an issue with the version of OpenGL on this hardware but this is normal as it is an old computer)

    Thanks for sharing, Ghostkeeper!.

BTW, Does anybody know which Debian/Ubuntu version should be used with the above 15.04.6?

I tried to install it under Mint 20 Ulyana and the installer tells it cannot fulfill the dependencies...

Also with Ubuntu Focal Fossa and Tahr. After years using it on Windows and having tried most of the current advanced slicers, 15.04.6 still gives me the best printing times, and I don't need all those bells and whistles for what I'm doing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Jes.

The 15.04.06 Debian archive specifies that it requires the following packages:

    • python-wxgtk2.8 or python-wxgtk3.0
    • python-opengl
    • python-serial
    • python-numpy

I don't know in how far those are still maintained for modern Ubuntu or Mint versions. You'll probably still be able to find them online somewhere but maybe not in apt. These are for Python 2, mind you, which has reached end-of-life.

Thanks a lot. I've been trying several different older distros and I've found out that Xubuntu 18.04 LTS installs okay the above mentioned .deb file and covers all dependencies.

Thanks for adding this, I got Cura up and on Xubuntu but it hangs at "Opening Serial port" on the Pronterface UI.  Was there anything else you needed to do?

    Sorry to be so late.

I first installed printrun and Arduino 1.8.13 and then Cura and everything went fine.

15.4.6 would be about 9yrs old at this point and was never formally released on github even.
Why do you need such a old version of Cura?

They picked up the New Matter MOD-t I left on the kerb outside my house for a council clean-up a couple of months ago?

If so: don't bother. The motherboard had a seizure and quit working about four years ago.

/me wonders if a version that old is basic enough that WINE would manage it without issue

I was given a Monoprice Maker Select Plus 3D Printer by a friend who had been given it by someone else. It works fine and can print but I have a hard time figuring out WHAT it is gonna print, it doesn't show the files on the SD card on the LCD screen per-se and just prints the first printable file, so I want to connect it to an old chromebook I have running Linux so I can give it a few tests. I've never had a 3D printer of any scale before and I'm excited to give it a try, but have only succeeded in making a mess haha

you will have VERY mixed results trying to run on a chromebook.
ChromeOS isn't supported not even in its "linux" mode..

Additionally most of the guides i have heard of that helps you put full linux on the chromebook is often missing required packages that UltiMaker Cura needs to run.. and then other times the hardware specs of the chromebook still does not meet requirements.

Additionally your direct USB printing will be completely hit or miss even on supported hardaware.

I respectfully disagree. You will have VERY many failures. Especially on a version that old, if you could find it, things like graphics drivers and the display server have probably changed enough that it won't work.

If I can get it working on my Chromebook Duet with a MediaTek Helio P60T ARM chipset and 4GB of RAM, do you think you can get me a job at UltiMaker?

(Yes, the hardware is old and not exactly high specs when it was new. But it still runs ChromeOS snappily because I'm not asking more of it than it was designed for. I do have the built in Linux install set up (which only exists so you can run Android Studio, because Google) but that's only because it's the only way to sideload Android apps without completely knocking down all the barriers and forcing you to go through a warning before you can start using it every time you unlock it.)

OK so the chromebook is out, BUT I do have other old laptops that would work just fine, regardless I'm still looking for the .deb packages of the program so that I could use it on different desktops to make files since I primarily run linux anyway.

I was given a Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer V2.  Is there any software out there I can download to get this thing working?  I am not at all educated when it comes to these things so I could use some serious guidance.  Thanks.
