Notification for Running out of Material (or any paused print job)

We really enjoy the mobile app notifications for started/completed/aborted print jobs in Cura. I recently noticed that there is even a notification for an improperly configured print job (wrong core/material). What we would REALLY like is a notification for a print job that has been paused for whatever reason - particularly jobs that have run out of material. This would be so helpful and it seems, to my naive mind, would be very simple to implement. Can this be done via 3rd party plugin now?

Only Cura has a plugin system (Cura Connect, despite it's confusing simmilar name, doesn't), so this isn't something that can be resolved with a plugin I'm afraid.

I think this is something that is on our backlog already, but I can't give any specifics about when (or even if) we will get to it.

I fully support that notification feature request as I think it is one of the major events a user should know of (keyword "streamlining work flow" - it's annoying to loose time due to not realizing the printer requests user action).

This is a fair request, I'll make sure it gets on the radar of the relevant people.

Although a Cura plugin will not be able to solve this, a small web server talking to Ultimaker Cloud might do the trick. In particular the cluster status endpoint. Note that this requires knowledge of talking to a web API and a cloud connected Ultimaker printer.

Are there any news on this?

I just realised I had a print paused because of material empty (it actually got stuck, this happens a lot) and l lost lots of time now.

If I had got a notification I would have solved the problem in the moment

    cheers,

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
