Leakage

Mine just did by email and pretty quick too and he's going to change the values on the website, now all their 3 mm filament tell 3.00, they are going to change that into 2.85 and 2.95, they sell two different 3 mm filament.

No, your manufacturer just told you the diameter that they were aiming for when they made the filament. Across a large batch, or between batches, that diameter can vary a lot. Better manufacturers keep the tolerances tighter. Lesser ones, less so. But there's still no substitute for investing in a $12 pair of calipers and actually measuring the filament.

If that are the right dimensions than the rest is theory for me, and if I have trouble again in the future with the right filament thickness settings I know what to do :)

No... the rest is still true. See my blog post about it. If your extruder is calibrated based on moving plastic without the added pressure of extrusion (as most are) then you will get less extrusion than you ask for at pretty much any speed. The faster you print, the worse it gets. If you are already under-extruding due to incorrect filament settings, this issue will just make it even worse. If your filament is correct, then you still get some amount of under-extrusion. For most things, printed at reasonable speed, it's not really noticeable. But at high speeds, or critical applications like this, then it becomes a factor.

No, I don't have to be absolutely right - and sometimes am very wrong. But at least I'm trying to understand the factors that affect how this technology works, and share that info with people who come looking for help, so that together we can advance the state of the art a bit.

I strongly recommend that you take some time to understand the 'theory' that you seem eager to dismiss. Getting the right results for the wrong reasons makes for a frustrating experience in the long run, because it's really not very repeatable.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
