Cura 4.4.1 Create new material

Hi Diving Duck,

I finally managed to open the file and edit it. So I now have materials. I just got it sorted when I received this from Ultimaker. I have to confess I don't really understand it.

I think what they are saying is that with the Ultimaker 2 family of printers you don't need to modify the material profile.

Introduce UltiGcode: able to print a model with all materials supported by the Ultimaker2. The gcode would have no material specific properties. Simply select PLA or ABS on the Ultimaker 2, and it will work!

As soon as the Ultimaker2+ came, we realized this does not work, because not only the temperature and fan speed affect the material, but also things like print speed, line widths etcetera.

Both the Ultimaker 2Extended and Ultimaker 2 do not have material profiles available. They run on 1 single print profile for whatever will be printed. As long as the customer selects the right material when insterting it on their machine, they should be fine!

Onwards and upwards.

Thanks for your help

Michael

Your welcome. Glad to see you solved it for your needs. Happy printing.

Regarding the profiles I think you are right. Guess, most UM users use also the preferred materials as this combination is proved to work. I'm ok with this, as one of the over all benefits is a freely usable and maintained Cura Software. That's how business works. :)

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
