Support not working on really small items since 4.0.0

I realise I'm probably the only one here who even tries to print really tiny tanks (1:600, under 1cm long), but it worked fine up until Cura 4.0.0. After that, there was a strange failure in the slicer trying to use supports. The support went so far, then just stopped, often at a demarcation line, like the bottom of the turret.. Now, this only seems to happen on really small models, but it did not happen on 4.0.0 and before slices.  Is there some setting I'm not using that affects this? Has anyone else seen the effect? It will work if I use tree Supports, but Tree Supports just don't support straight lines as well.

Screenshot attached - note that, without towers, there's just nothing at all under the gun barrels...

Excellent! Thank you, a setting I never knew existed, it certainly looks good in preview. I'll test it tomorrow.

Great! I have the same problem with tank turrets, where is that setting?

out the box Cura hides alot of settings, you can pick to view all settings by clicking on the menu icon next to the settings search box, you can also type in "Minimum support area" in the settings search box also to fine it and it will be in the support part of the settings.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
