PETG Clogging on Large Prints

Posted · PETG Clogging on Large Prints

I have been stuck for several days on this issue using PETG.  No matter what I try it is the same problem.  I am using a 1.2mm nozzle, Volcano Hotend, on a  Modix Big 120 and I am printing an object 1100mm long.  Nonstop parts are fine, but when the extruder travels from one part to another and it crosses over an existing line, there is a little bit of oozing that wipes and then clogs the very end of the nozzle. It happens usually in the same spot.   I have messed with retraction settings, sped 150mm/s across the machine, adjusted temperatures from 240C to 280C, and nothing seems to work.  Has anyone printed PETG with a 1.2mm nozzle before and can get me the best settings?

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
