Posted · ER16 z axis is stuck on UM3-EXT

Hi everyone,

our 3D printer is recently stopping printing from time to time. It simply freezes during printing. Often, but not always, ist shows the Error16: " The z axis ist stuck or the limit switch is broken." However, the limit switch seems to work fine. The homing of the build plate never fails and the activ leveling also works. No damage or jamming is visible on the z-axis or the swich itself. We have also reset the printer and lubricatet all the axes. We have also cleaned ist, so that no particels can block the axis or the switch. Does anyone have any clue? Thanks in advance!

Our Ultimaker came with a low viscositiy lubrication for the x/y axis and a high viscositiy grease for the z axis. After i got frustrated i uses the low viscositiy lubrication for the z axis as well. I don't know whether this approach cleaned the axis or actualy worked better as a lubricat but it seems to have fixed the problems at least temporarily.

There is a tube Magnalube (green) and a bottle Unilube.

The Unilube oil is for the x/y/z rods, don't use Magnalube there!

The Magnalube is for the Z-screw only!

I get this problem ca. every 20th print alternating with ER18 and it is super annoying.

Is there any solution for this problem?
