I have a hollow stl file that i want printed with no bottom printed layer desired. Using Cura 4.8 & have 0% infil as well as "Spiralize Outer Contour" selected.

Tried to print and the bottom layer was printed. Again the stl file did not show a bottom to the part. Is there a setting i should be looking for?

NEVER PRINT something without checking the PREIVEW mode first and sliding the slider to see what will happen on all the layers.  Never.  That would have saved you a lot of time and will help you realize within seconds what each option in Cura does.

So I recommend you don't use "spiralize" as that has a built in "water tight" feature for vases and cups and I don't think you can disable that.

Then make sure "bottom thickness" and "bottom layers" is set to zero and you will get no bottom.  Also disable infill as it sounds like you want your part to be hollow (no infill).

I am trying to get the exact same outcome as the original poster (no bottom layers/0% infill/Bridged top layers). I have the latest version of Cura 4.12.0.

I am using the settings described by gr5 above.  No spriralize and bottom layers/thickness set to 0.  However Cura still adds the bottom layers! what gives??

Load the model in Cura an set up to slice.  Use the "File | Save Project" command to create a 3mf file with the model, settings, and printer and then post that 3mf file here.  It's the easiest way to remotely troubleshoot.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.

      • Ultimaker Cura 5.6 stable released
Cura now supports Method series printers!

A year after the merger of Ultimaker and MakerBotQQ, we have unlocked the ability for users of our Method series printers to slice files using UltiMaker Cura. As of this release, users can find profiles for our Method and Method XL printers, as well as material profiles for ABS-R, ABS-CF, and RapidRinse. Meaning it’s now possible to use either Cura or the existing cloud-slicing software CloudPrint when printing with these printers or materials
